"It was quickly announced that the winning entry was sold in the UK, and the wait will now begin for the player to come forward and claim their money. They will also have to decide whether to go public or stay anonymous.

"The UK has now had 79 jackpot winners since EuroMillions launched in 2004, and the latest success is one of the largest in the country's history."

This is the largest ever lottery win in the UK, beating the previous record of £161million, which was won by Colin and Christine Weir in 2011.

The couple was granted a quickie divorce by a judge at the Court of Session in Edinburgh just days after they put their £3million former home on the market.

They had reportedly been living in separate mansions for several months after they 'drifted apart' when Colin, 71, went to Partick Thistle games while Christine, 62, attended charity events.

They are expected to also be wealthier than actress Helen Mirren, as well as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

With the winnings, the lucky player would be able to afford the world's most expensive car - Bugatti's La Voiture Noire, priced at around £14.1 million.

The winner will also be able to visit some of the most expensive islands in the world including Cocoa Island In Maldives and Fregate Island In Seychelles.

Yesterday’s winning numbers were 07, 10, 15, 44 and 49 and the lucky stars were 03 and 12.
