伦敦东区 actress Louisa Lytton wants her character Ruby Allen to dip into the dark side, following her troubled past.

The character returned to Walford in 2018 after leaving the show back in 2006, with the then teenager losing her dad.

As the daughter of gangster Johnny Allen, the character was caught up in all kinds of horror and drama.

Now, the actress who plays her wants Ruby to "dip her toes" into the life her villainous dad led before his death, amid upcoming drama with her on/off lover Max Branning.

Speaking exclusively to 欧洲杯外围 at the Inside Soap Awards 2019, Louisa revealed something was "going to happen" that could bring drama for the new couple.

She said: "I think her romance still continues with Max for a while but Ruby might flip from guy to guy. This is gonna be her new thing.

"Her relationship with Max, it gradually unfolds... something happens there."

While remaining coy over what exactly happens, she did hint it would bring some drama to the Square.

Louisa also talked of Ruby's past with her dad, revealing her hopes to have a darker storyline.

She said of Johnny's influence on her: "I really hope it comes out in certain ways.

"Obviously she's come from a really dark background, her dad was a gangster, but I'd like to see Ruby dip her toes in at some point."

The actress also confessed that fans of the BBC soap will not want to miss the Christmas episodes this year.

Louisa explained: "It's honestly... I'm not in the Christmas Day episode but I read the episode and it's one of the best Christmases they've had in a while."
